Firearms, explosive, dangerous chemicals, narcotics, ivory, live/dead poultry, vegetables including tomato puree and paste, textiles, fabrics, fruits, wines and liquor.
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
The customs regulation demands that prior to moving to Nigeria, shipper must make sure that a resident permit will be granted to them. Please note that pre-shipment inspection at the port of loading for household goods have been abolished. Only general cargos still pass through pre-shipment inspection at the port of loading. After the physical inspection of the shipment, Clean Report of Inspection (CRI) will be issued in respect of the general cargo.
Please note however that effective from June 2002, destination inspection will be reintroduced for all goods coming into Nigeria. Details are currently being worked out by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Household Goods, Personal effects
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Nigerian Customs and excise unaccompanied Baggage Declaration, Asycuda, Bill of Lading / Airway bill and Clear inventory of household goods (in English), Passport, OBL, Residence Permit.
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS REGARDING IMPORTATION
Personal and Household effects, the property of a passenger landed at any Customs Port, Customs Airport / Customs Stations within two months of the arrival of the passenger within such further periods as the Minister may allow to the extent permitted by the Minister and subject to any conditions imposed by it and provided the 'Baggage' shall not be interpreted to include any vehicle or any goods intended for sale, barter/exchange.
AVERAGE CLEARANCE TIME
10 Working days from the date of discharge.
CUSTOMER PRESENCE REQUIRED FOR CLEARANCE
Together with the original international passport
REMARKS / RECOMMENDATIONS
Consignee should have a Residence Permit, valid for at least two years. If this has not been obtained at the time of clearance, the consignee may produce a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs stating that the Residence Permit is being processed.

Health and Vaccination Certificates. Animals to be inspected by a vet immediately after arrival and transportation to Quarantine. Need full details of pets and animals in advance to apply for permit.

Documentation

The following documentation's are essential for the smooth clearance and delivery of used household goods or personnel effect shipments. If demurrage charges occur due to lack of documentation or incorrect consignment information, all costs will be billed back to the origin agent. All documents should be mailed to shipper.
Please forward the following documents:
1. Original Air Waybill or Ocean Bill of Lading
2. Original packing list or inventory
3. Certificate of insurance (if applicable)
4. Transmittal Letter (Advising consignee information, billing Instruction)
